Religious minorities in Iran

 
Christians:

The Christian community is represented by the Armenians and the Assyrians. Their presence in Iran goes back three thousand years; the Assyrian Church is the most ancient in the world (first century A.D.)
Currently there are approximately 150.000 Christians who have two representatives in parliament. They have their own places of worship, cemeteries, associations, schools, newspapers etc.

Jews:
The presence of the Jewish Community in Iran goes back 2.800 years. Currently there are approximately 40.000 Jews. They have a representative in parliament and have their own synagogues, hospitals, schools (where they speak Aramaic), old people’s homes etc.

Zoroastrians:

Zarathustra lived in the middle of the 6th century B.C. He was the first person to announce the existence of Satan; the first to ask men to choose between good and bad; the first to preach the resurrection of the dead on Judgement Day. The Zoroastrian religion was the main Iranian religion before Islam.
They have a representative in parliament and freely observe their own rituals. A big flame is always lit in their temples called fire temples.
