GOLESTAN
Region: Mashad
area: 900km²
animals: 150 varieties of birds, chamois, brown bear, panther, wild cat and viper.
vegetation: chestnut, oak, magma, cedar and plants.
note: half mountainous and half flat; there are waterfalls and camping and parking areas.

 

TANDUREH
region: 850km North of Mashad
area: 57.000 km²
animals: different species of ram, Urial sheep.
vegetation: juniper trees.
note: natural resources.

 

KHARGHURAM
region: South East Shahroud
area: 10.000 km²
animals: panther, wolf, zebra, antelope, goat, partridge, bustard, grey grouse.
vegetation: juniper trees.
note: it is the habitat to many rare animals.

 

BAMU
region: North Shiraz
area: 480 km²
animals: gazelle, panther, fox, wild cat, partridge.
Vegetation: there are over 280 different species.
note: Scientific studies and research centres.

 

HARMUD, LAR
region: South East Fars
area: 1.500 km²
animals: Larestan ram.
vegetation: different tropical plants.
note: an important study and research area.

 

KAVIR INTERNATIONAL PARK
region:  West of the Great Salt dessert and East of the salt lake and south east of Tehran
area: 80.000 km² (complete area 320.000 km²)
animals: panther, ram, deer, goat, flamingo.
Vegetation: tropical and desert plants.
note: typical desert where animals and plants can resist this climate.

 

KHOJIR
region: East of Tehran
area: 93 km²
animals: deer, ram, different species of birds, goat.
Vegetation: steppe, sciarb.
note: it is an area of bird migration. One of the most beautiful natural areas in Iran.

 

LAR
Region: 90km East of Tehran
animals: panther, golden eagle, boar, different types of reptile, pig, lamb.
vegetation: special plants and red tulips.
note: it reaches an altitude of 3000m. It has rich vegetation and a wide variety of different animal species.

 

KAVIRE LUT
region: South East Iran
area: 80.000 km²
note: this area is characterised by typical desert conditions: scarce vegetation, a humidity of 10% in summer, an evaporation rate of 5000 mm a year. There is a temperature excursion between night and day of almost 50°C. (from -7° to +45°).

 

DASHTE KAVIR
regions: South of Alborz (50-60 km²) – province of Semnan (100-300 km²) - Khorasan, Sistan and Isfahan (600 km²)
note: most of this region is covered in sand with marginal salt marshes. The wind continuously moves the sand hills. It is one of the most arid regions of Iran. During the year the temperature can reach 70°C. Kaire Hadj Ali is also interesting.
