Islam

Shi’a Islam is the official religion of Iran. It professes the faith of the Twelve Imam. Islam is an Arabic word that means submission to the will of God (Khoda, Allah), and derives its name from the monotheistic religion founded in the 7th century A.D. by the Prophet Muhammad. After creating heaven and earth, God sent his Prophets, including Moses and Jesus, to the world to guide man to God, until the arrival of Muhammad, who was chosen by God to present His message to mankind.

Islam is divided into two main groups: the Sunnis (the majority), who regard the First Four Caliphs as the legitimate successors of Muhammad; and the Shias who regard only the Twelve Imam as the legitimate successors of Muhammad.

The Shia Muslims observe the Five Pillars of Islam: they believe there is one God, that God is an impartial judge, they believe in the Prophet, in the Twelve Imam and in life after death that follows Judgement Day.

Whatever name is given to the Creator of the Universe, the important thing is Respect and Dialogue, without prejudice, for a better world.
